Profile
From Nick Evans :
I’m delighted to announce that, after months of hard work and careful research, I’ve now completed my new nostalgia book about Sandwich.
It’s called This Smiling Corner – Stories From Sandwich and is packed with photos and tales of the town, from medieval times to not long ago at all.
Chapters include the story of The Salutation, goings on at Sandwich Bay, views of the town and market in years past and a close look at Kitchener Camp when it was the temporary home for 4,000 Jewish men who had fled Germany just before the Second World War.
Copies will be on sale at Spellbound In Sandwich, in Cattle Market (opposite the Guildhall), from Saturday 26 September. You can pre-order your copies now for collection from that day. I’ll be there from 3pm to sign copies for anyone purchasing – and to open some fizz too! Hope you can come along.
