The Kent Mining Museum offers an accessible and inclusive experience for all visitors. Learn about the heritage through the words and experiences of the miners themselves and engage with artefacts, interactive exhibits and a dynamic temporary exhibition programme.
The museum is based across two floors. Visitors can explore a day in the life of a miner, the history of coal mining in Kent, the geography and geology of the East Kent coalfield and the importance of community. Our basement gallery also features changing exhibitions as we present different perspectives, unseen artefacts and a space for the community to curate and co-exhibit work based by coal mining.
