Supporting the Armed Forces, veterans, and their families. For Life.
We are here to support armed forces families during and after service providing guidance during deployment, helping with financial hardship, support after a bereavement, or caring for a loved one in old age.
Through expert advice and practical support, we can help with many of life’s problems, no matter how many years have passed since finishing service.
If you are a veteran or member of the Armed Forces community in need of support, you can call us on 0800 802 8080. Our helpline is open from 8am – 8pm every day.
The Sandwich branch of the RBL meet monthly at the Fleur de Lis hotel for a breakfast meeting at 9:30 on the first Friday of each month.
The Secretary is Clive (Hank) Hancocks.
One of our members, John Bennett, has an ongoing project regarding 234(HAA) battery RA who were stationed for a time at the Drill Hall.
“Hi Sandwich, do you know the history of the Drill Hall at the quay? I am trying to raise awareness of its history in particular the 234(HAA) battery RA. They locked the door for the last time on 24th August 1939, never to return. Their journey took them firstly to Rainham to defend Chatham docks. On to Sittingbourne, then an arduos journey to Egypt and finally Crete where many were killed or captured. 6 of the towns youth are commemorated on our war memorial. Please have a look at the video below.”
